Gaussian Splat Leonberg Demo Project
Gaussian Splatting – Interactive 3D Environments
We are currently exploring how Gaussian Splats can be integrated into digital learning, training and media formats.
Our goal is to capture real environments in 3D and connect them with information, interactive features and other content.
Engelberg Tower in Leonberg
For our first prototype, we captured the Engelberg Tower in Leonberg digitally.
We used 360° footage inside the tower and additional drone footage for the exterior.
From this material, we created a freely explorable 3D environment that serves as a testing ground for further development.
Interactive Fire Safety Prototype
As an initial use case, we created a prototype for a potential fire safety training experience.
Information and interactive elements can be placed at specific locations within the 3D environment.
Possible examples include:
- Escape routes
- Fire extinguishers
- Hazard areas
- Assembly points
- Additional information and learning content
Interactive 3D Environment
We are currently adding features to the viewer to turn the 3D environment into an interactive application.
These include:
- Interactive hotspots and information points
- Images, videos and text
- Navigation within the environment
- Custom interactions
- Links to other digital learning content
Integration with E-Learning
Another focus of our development work is integrating the 3D environment into existing learning formats.
For example, the viewer can be embedded in web-based e-learning courses and connected to applications such as Articulate Storyline.
This allows actions within the 3D environment to be linked to the course content.
Potential Applications
Gaussian Splats could be used for:
- E-learning and technical training
- Safety and fire safety training
- Virtual site visits
- Onboarding and orientation
- Visualising machinery and facilities
- Technical documentation
- Cultural and museum experiences
- Product and sales presentations
Currently in Development
The Engelberg Tower currently serves as our prototype and development environment.
We are continually testing new features and ways to connect Gaussian Splats with interactive elements, learning content and existing e-learning systems.
Explore the Prototype
The prototype is still in development and is being expanded on an ongoing basis.
